‘Lift Every Voice And Sing’ wows, upsets at Super Bowl LVII
Super Bowl 57 got off to a great start with a heartfelt rendition of the Black national anthem sung by Sheryl Lee Ralph.

Beloved performer Sheryl Lee Ralph delivered a heartfelt rendition of “Lift Every Voice And Sing,” written by James Weldon Johnson during Super Bowl 57, between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles in Arizona. The song, commonly known as the Black national anthem, angered U.S. Rep. Lauren Boebert, Republican from Colorado, who tweeted: “Why is the NFL trying to divide us by playing multiple!? Do football, not wokeness.”
