The Iowa African American Hall of Fame under new custodianship

Gary Lawson, founder of the Connect Foundation, and his daughter, Celeste Lawson, president of the Connect Foundation, signed over the Iowa African American Hall of Fame operation to The Des Moines Urban Experience.

Gary Lawson, founder of the Iowa African American Hall of Fame (IAAHF) and Celeste Lawson, his daughter, the President of the Connect Foundation has transferred custodianship of the IAAHF to an organization in Des Moines. Gary Lawson is also the founder of the Connect Foundation. On Monday, Oct. 25 both Gary and Celeste Lawson announced that the Des Moines Urban Experience will now have custodianship of the IAAHF. Des Moines Urban Experience also has custodianship of the Iowa Juneteenth Observance. This organization uses Iowa Urban Media as an outlet to notify communities across Iowa. Gary and Celeste Lawson appointed this role to the organization due to their knowledge and history making them the best equipped to take on this responsibility.
