Earlier this week, Governor Kim Reynolds revealed Iowa will conclude Fiscal Year 2023 with a significant financial surplus. This information was issued in a press release on Wednesday, Sep. 27. Iowa will end the year with a balance of $1.83 billion in the General Fund, $902 million in reserve funds, and $2.74 billion in the Tax Payer Relief Fund. The Governor has expressed intent for Iowans to receive these benefits in response to the excess in funds. “I look forward to cutting taxes again next legislative season and returning this surplus back to where it belongs – the people of Iowa,” said Gov. Reynolds in a press release.
