Historian and journalist Carter G. Woodson‘s work led to the creation of Black History Month, which celebrates Black people’s contributions to this country. What are you doing to celebrate Black History Month this year? I’m watching Neflix’s “The 1619 Project” by Pulitzer-prize winning reporter Nikole Hannah Jones, who is from Waterloo. I also read the transcript of “The Black Press: Soldiers without Swords” by Stanley Nelson, which details the origins and importance of the Black Press.
