Be Heard Youth Town Hall to be held in Des Moines

A Youth Town Hall will be held in February in Des Moines, Iowa, to solicit opinions from students about their schools and community.

The Be Heard Youth Town Hall invites Des Moines high school students to participate in a forum to discuss concerns they have about education and their community during a panel that will include Des Moines Mayor Frank Cownie and members of city council, school board, Polk County supervisors and residents. Student concerns will be noted and developed into a plan to improve schools and the community — with a goal toward creating a better city for all.

The Be Heard Youth Town Hall will be held from 6 p.m.-7:30 p.m. Feb. 23, at Des Moines Central Library, 1000 Grand Ave. Greater Opportunities, a nonprofit group, and the city of Des Moines are co-hosting the event.
