Greater Opportunities to host Youth Town Hall on gun violence

Greater Opportunities to host Youth Town Hall at 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 9, addressing gun violence, education disparities, homelessness and more.

Greater Opportunities, a local nonprofit organization that helps at-risk youth, will host another Youth Town Hall to address issues in the community. Education reform resources and youth empowerment is the theme of this town hall session. The town hall plans to cover subjects such as gun violence prevention, disparities in education, the city council decision regarding homelessness, and student perspectives on phone bans and school safety. This event will begin at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 9, at the Polk County North Side Community Center in Des Moines. The Youth Town Hall is led by student leaders and provides an opportunity to engage in meaningful conversations within the community.
