Legislative Recap and Listening Post on Education to be held in Dubuque

Parents and educators in Dubuque are invited to participate in a legislative recap and listening session about education on April 30.

State Rep. Lindsay James, D-Dubuque and Sen. Pam Jochum, D-Dubuque, in collaboration with the Iowa State Education Association, will host a Legislative Recap and Listening Post on Education at 4:15 p.m. Tuesday, April 30, at the Dubuque Keystone Area Education Agency, 2310 Chaney Road in Dubuque.

The event is an opportunity for education stakeholders, including educators and parents of students in the Dubuque Community School District and Western Dubuque Community Dubuque schools, “to gain a comprehensive understanding of the education policies enacted during the 90th General Assembly,” according to the press release.

“We are excited to facilitate this dialogue between our community and our elected officials,” said James. “Education is the cornerstone of our society, and it’s imperative that all voices are heard in the policymaking process. We encourage educators, parents and members of the public to join us for this important event.”

In March, Gov. Kim Reynolds signed into law hotly debated changes to Iowa’s Area Education Agencies.

All Dubuque County area legislators have been invited to participate, the release stated.
