The MLK Jr. Essay Contest submissions are closing soon
Ames/Story County MLK Jr. Celebration Essay Contest! Open for high school students from now until Dec. 3rd.
The 4th annual Ames/Story County MLK Jr. Celebration essay contest submissions are still open. The deadline for the essay submissions are due on Sunday, Dec. 3rd. The contest is available for high school students and winners will receive a prize. Prizes include $200 for first place, $100 for second place, $75 for third place, and $25 for fourth runner-up. Contest participants are required to choose one of two options to write about for their essay. They have the option to either review King’s “Letter from the Birmingham Jail” as a guide to explain the importance of rediscovering his values or they can choose a favorite quote from Martin Luther King Jr. and explain the significance.
