Iowa education bill heats up, not about ‘public versus private’ schools, legislator says
Next week, a controversial education spending plan pushed by Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds and Republicans to allow Iowans to use state funds on private schools will move closer to approval. The Iowa Senate Appropriations Committee on Thursday voted to approve the plan, 12-6.
“This isn’t about public versus private. I know everybody likes to make it that way,” said Sen. Tim Kraayenbrink (R) Fort Dodge, before the vote.
The bill is expected to be debated and voted upon in both chambers next week. SF 94.
