The Black Iowa Newspaper to debut in June
The Black Iowa Newspaper, produced by Black Iowa News, will be delivered around the state during the week of June 12. Pick up a free copy.
For nearly three years, Black Iowa News has worked to connect Black Iowans by highlighting Black perspectives, showcasing the Black community and uplifting Black voices. We’ve built a highly engaged and growing community on social media, our website and email newsletter. Now, we are debuting the Black Iowa Newspaper.

Thousands of copies of the premier edition will be delivered to dozens of locations in cities around the state — beginning the week of June 12, 2023 — just in time for Juneteenth! Supported by advertising and contributions, the newspaper will be free for everyone who wants a copy. Advertising rates are affordable.
Black Iowa News has always enjoyed strong support, and we feel tremendous pride and excitement in producing the first issue and the quarterly issues to follow.
Black Iowa News is about uplifting and reflecting the Black community. The first issue is full of Black Iowans who are doing great things.
In this highly politicized environment that seeks to erase our history (think banned books, think “divisive concepts,” think anti-CRT and DEI), the Black Iowa Newspaper is ready to uplift and inspire, showcase and connect us like the Black Press has always done. We will highlight our accomplishments, investigate our challenges, and together, we will blaze new trails. Please read, share and advertise. Thank you for your support.
