New leadership for Cedar Rapids NAACP branch
Find out who will serve on the new leadership team of the Cedar Rapids NAACP Branch #4013.
The Cedar Rapids NAACP Branch #4013 has announced newly elected officers who will serve from 2025-2027. The new leaders will guide the organization’s ongoing efforts to advocate for justice, equality and civil rights in Cedar Rapids and surrounding communities, according to a press release.
Newly elected officers:
- President Steve Moshier
- 1st Vice President Nancy Humbles
- Treasurer Shelby Humbles Jr.
- Assistant Treasurer Deborah Reed
- Secretary Susan Benderson
- Assistant Secretary Lyle Kleman
At large:
- Darryl English, Denise Bridges, Kenny Reed, Leland Freie, Otis McGowan, and Tamara Marcus
New terms begin on Jan. 1.
Moshier, a long-time NAACP member, Marion resident and retired software developer, said he is honored to serve as president of the Cedar Rapids NAACP #4013 Branch.
“Together with this incredible team, we will work tirelessly to advance the mission of the NAACP and address the critical issues facing our community,” he said, according to the press release.
Moshier, who previously served as second vice president, plans to “continue on the path of an inclusive community where all people can exercise their civil and human rights without discrimination while reaching their full potential,” the press release stated.
Newly elected officers bring experience, dedication and passion to their roles, the press release stated. This new era of leadership will strengthen the chapter’s efforts to advocate for civil rights, increase voter engagement, support economic equity and promote social justice initiatives throughout the community.
“The entire branch extends heartfelt gratitude to past president Dedric Doolin for his 20 years of servant leadership. He brought passion and commitment to our community. We hold all outgoing officials in high regard for their dedication and service,” stated the new first vice president, Nancy Humbles, who has also been a longtime member of the NAACP.
