Inside Black Iowa: Des Moines Mobile Barber Jake Sahr
Inside Black Iowa: Learn about The Mobile Barbering Company, its founder Jake Sahr and his work around Des Moines, Iowa.

Black Iowa News: Describe your work.
Sahr: I am a barber. I own The Mobile Barbering Company, a full-service barbershop on wheels. My goal with this idea is to serve the community wherever they are, no matter their situation.
In my spare time, I am also a co-founder of a local nonprofit called ATTAIN. I am a part of numerous other organizations to better support the needs of our community. I am also a nursing student at DMACC and would like to serve my community that way in the future, as well.
Black Iowa News: What is your motto or guiding principle in life?
Sahr: Always be genuine, never sacrifice your authenticity and look out for others.

Black Iowa News: What advice would you give to Black youth who want to work in your field?
Sahr: Never give up. A lot of people will try to tear you apart and offer nothing more than obstacles. Seek out those who want nothing to gain from you and want to grow with you. Those are the best personal and professional relationships you can have.
Black Iowa News: How can the Black community better support you?
Sahr: Stop by, tell your friends. Supporting us allows us to turn around to support you, and that’s what community is all about — looking out for each other.
