MercyOne partners with DART for Black History Month
MercyOne & DART launch a February campaign raising awareness of the Black maternal health crisis with resources
In honor of Black History Month, MercyOne will partner with the Des Moines Area Regional Transit Authority (DART) to bring awareness to the maternal health crisis that commonly affects Black women in Iowa and the U.S. The DART busses will feature a visual promotional campaign focusing on care for mothers and babies during the month of February. This information was announced during a press conference held by MercyOne on Monday, Feb. 3, at MercyOne Des Moines Medical Center.
Jacquie Easley, MercyOne division director for Health Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion, stated, “Our primary goal with this work is to make sure every expectant Black mother is aware of the maternal health services available and how to access them” during the press conference. This promotional campaign will highlight the maternal health crisis while providing resources for Black women to help combat this problem.
