A select group of educators in Iowa have formed their state affiliate of the National Alliance of Black Educators (NABSE). The NABSE was originally founded in 1970 as a non-profit organization dedicated to furthering academic success for the nation’s children, especially those of African descent. Elected officers for the IABSE are Dr. Corey Seymour (president), Monique Cottman (vice president), Dr. Erick Pruitt (treasurer), and Amira Nash (secretary). The organization has held satellite socials this fall. The Waterloo social took place in September, the Iowa City social took place in October, and the Des Moines metro area social took place earlier in November. To join the IABSE, fill out their membership form.
