Inclusive 5K race to celebrate diversity and unity
Celebrate diversity at Embrace the Race 5K—June 21 at Gray’s Lake! Walk, run, dance & enjoy music, art, vendors & more
Embrace the Race is an inclusive 5K race for all to celebrate diversity and individuality. Embrace the Race is also an official partner of Iowa Juneteenth 2025. The race starts at 9 a.m. on Saturday, June 21 at Gray’s Lake in Des Moines. The event will have a variety of activities from rock art painting, story time with a local author, photo booths, and a live DJ with a judgement-free dance party. Attendees will also have access to vendors, sensory tents, and post-race snacks. Those who are participating in the race have the choice of either walking, running, dancing, or simply moving freely however they choose. Registration for the race can be completed online. Sponsorship and volunteer opportunities are available for the event through the registration link. Kids under the age of 6 can attend for free. Embrace the Race 5K welcomes people of all ages, abilities, and cultures while promoting a sense of unity and community.
