A grand opening ceremony for All-in-Grocers and Grandma’s Hands restaurant will be held at noon on Oct. 3, at the store’s location, 221 Franklin St. in Waterloo.

“You have everything here that’s an anchor in any community, no matter race, creed or color,” said Rodney Anderson, All-In founder, in a press release. “It’s going to be a beacon of light in a community where a lot of people don’t have chances or opportunities.”

The 28,000-square-foot grocery store development, which includes a restaurant, laundry, community center, afterschool program satellite office and reentry services, will bring fresh, affordable food to areas labeled as a food desert, the press release stated.

The site also includes:

Grandma’s Hands Restaurant
The Ms. Willie Mae Wright Community Center
The Clean Laundromat
Satellite office of the 1619 Freedom School – an after-school program focused on literacy founded by Waterloo’s
Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist, Nikole Hannah-Jones
Road Home, which will provide reentry services
