SUMMARY:Coffee Conversations
DESCRIPTION:Coffee Conversations\n\nFebruary 1 @ 8:30 am – 10:00 am\n  \n\n\n\n\n  \n“The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically. Intelligence plus character – that is the goal of true education.” –Dr. Martin Luther King\, Jr. \nWe invite you to join us for our monthly series\, Coffee Conversations\, an informal conversation on our newest exhibit Racist Things: Hateful Imagery in the American Home. \nCentral to the thinking of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was the concept of the “Beloved Community.” Encompassing this thought\, our goal is to spread compassion through education. Dr. King believed that human existence was social in nature. King stated that “the solidarity of the human family” was important. “We are tied together in the single garment of destiny\, caught in an inescapable network of mutuality.” He recognized\, as we do at the AAMI\, the importance of honoring the past and working towards a just future. Personal growth cannot take place apart from meaningful relationships with other people. \nTo that end\, we invite you to join us on the first Saturday each month\, for coffee and conversations at the AAMI! We look forward to seeing you there!
