Audition notice: Nine women sought for roles in theatrical production ‘Black Women Walking’

“Black Women Walking,” written by Karen F. Williams and adapted and directed by Kevvin L. Taylor is an award-winning, theatrical production that combines monologues, movement, music and multimedia to bring to life the stories of courageous Black heroines who changed the course of American history.

The seek first entertainment production is seeking eight female actors and one female choreographer/dancer for the Iowa debut. Weekly stipend.
Rehearsals begin: February 2024 (dates/location = TBD) – Zoom and in person
Run: March 2-3, 2024 – Ballantyne Auditorium, Cedar Rapids, IA
AUDITIONS | CALLBACK
Auditions (via Zoom) will be held Saturday, January 6, 2024 from 12 p.m.-2 p.m. and Sunday, January 7, 2024 from 2 p.m.-4 p.m.
Callback (via Zoom) will be held Saturday, January 13, 2024 from 1 p.m.-4 p.m.

WHAT TO PREPARE |SUBMISSION INSTRUCTIONS
Actors should prepare a 2-minute dramatic monologue. If you’re auditioning for a singing (choir) role, then prepare 32 bars of an uptempo song (with movement) and 32 bars of a ballad. Performers must provide their accompaniment. Dancers should prepare two 1-minute choreographed dance pieces (jazz and majorette style)
COVID-19 POLICY
All members of the company (creatives and cast) must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and must be able to provide proof of vaccination. Resume and headshot required. Auditions are by appointment only. Submission deadline: Dec. 22.
