Community leader Ike Rayford is running for city council in Sioux City, where he aims to bring an inclusive lens to represent every resident of Sioux City. The main goals of his campaign, titled “I Like Ike,” are public safety and the economic development of the city.

Rayford, former local NAACP president, is running against eight other candidates for one of the three seats available for city council, according to Ballotpedia. During a run in 2021, Rayford landed in 4th place, and hopes that this time around, there will be a different outcome.
“I’m running because I believe in this city; in its neighborhoods, its people and its future.” Rayford said. “Every voice matters, and together we can build a Sioux City rooted inprogress, fairness and pride. My decision to run for city council stems from a deep commitment to the wellbeing of our community. Let’s do this together.”
The election is on Oct. 7. For more information on Rayford and his candidacy, contact ilikeikeSC@gmail.com.
